Speaking during an interview on Oyerepa TV on April 15, 2025, Owusu-Bempah insisted that Kennedy Agyapong is the most suitable candidate to lead the party back into power, citing his charisma, discipline, and strong connection with grassroots supporters.

"Kennedy Agyapong Is the People's Choice" — Owusu-Bempah

The outspoken party official described Kennedy Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, as the leader Ghanaians are yearning for:

“I have been working with some great leaders in this country, and I can recognize a leader when I see one. Go and find out from the people in Suame Magazine, Kejetia, and taxi drivers; they want somebody like him (Kennedy Agyapong),” he said.

Owusu-Bempah claimed that ordinary citizens, particularly the working class and market-based voters, are rallying behind Agyapong due to his blunt honesty and relatable leadership style.

"Ghanaians Want the Truth"

He continued by highlighting what he believes is a national appetite for straightforward, no-nonsense leadership:

“Ghanaians are yearning for the truth—someone who will tell them the truth. I have listened to what Ghanaians are saying, and they are calling on him to come forward… He is disciplined, a good candidate, and the right choice.”

The NPP’s Crossroads After 2024 Defeat

The comments come at a time when the NPP is grappling with internal reforms and introspection, following its defeat to the John Mahama-led NDC in the 2024 elections.

Kennedy Agyapong placed second during the 2023 NPP presidential primaries and has since maintained significant popularity, especially among the youth and informal sector.

While the party awaits the final report from the Mike Oquaye Committee, tasked with reviewing the electoral loss, internal calls for a Kennedy Agyapong 2028 candidacy are growing louder.
